3. It's Paced Incredibly Well

If you've stuck with The Walking Dead this long then you're very much aware of how the hit series has always been a victim of poor pacing. From long drawn-out wars, to lengthy monologues that are forgotten as soon as a character utters them, pacing has certainly never been the beloved series' strong suit. The show's seventh season remains its greatest failure in this department. Who could forget those unnecessarily extended episodes that had next to zero plot progression?

Angela Kang has made great strides in rectifying the show's aversion to standard pacing expectations, and Chokepoint is arguably the best the season has had to offer in regards to pace. Writers Eddie Guzelian and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick cope with the episode's three narratives incredibly well, employing shorter scenes with snappy dialogue, ensuring the viewers aren't given the opportunity to get bored.

Not only that, but the script allows for the viewer's anticipation to build throughout the instalment - in regards to both Daryl's arc and The Kingdom's - making the pay-off of both narratives incredibly rewarding for us.
