The X-Files: 10 Things We Learned From Babylon

The penultimate season 10 episode is here - but do we have any answers?

The penultimate episode of the tenth season of The X-Files, Babylon, aired Monday night, and the installment saw at least one major development take place - the return of fan favourites The Lone Gunmen. Don't get your celebratory champagne flutes out just yet, however. How their "return" went down is something that will nag at fans for some time, no doubt. Still, there was more to the episode than the Lone Gunmen - a lot more, including another blink and you'll miss it cameo, a terrorist subplot that seemed strangely out of place precisely because of how plausible terrorism is these days (and therefore out of place in The X-Files), and a pair of new FBI agents that were way too obviously a younger clone of Mulder and Scully. Those agents - Miller and Einstein, played by Robbie Amell (The Flash) and Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) - were originally said to have been considered for a back door spin-off pilot. In reality, they're no Mulder and Scully - and proved only how much we appreciate the real thing (or Robert Patrick, who at least put in a fantastic effort in a rough spot back in seasons eight and nine). To be honest, Babylon may have been the most uneven episode of the season, but it still had some entertaining moments, and there was also plenty to learn from it.
