The X-Files: 10 Ways To Continue The Franchise

10. A Second Shortened Season

It worked well enough once, so why not try it again? This is the obvious route to take, which is why it comes in last, even though it might be the most likely. Both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have pretty busy schedules, even with Hannibal off the air. Both are also parents, and no doubt want some family time. That's what made the shortened revival season so appealing in the first place - it was like a summer project, rather than a full year commitment. The big stumbling block, however, is that as the tenth season showed, the producers are unwilling to wrap things up, and just have too many ideas for a paltry six episodes. If their desire is to continue the franchise on for years, this really doesn't allow for fully developed story lines.
