TNA Impact Wrestling Review (22/9/11)

IMPACT WRESTLING September 22nd Recap Sting and Ric Flair having the worst match ever, then Hogan beating down Sting unconvincingly. This is what you would call a €œhype€ video. But no amount of hype can save where this storyline is going. In the arena here comes the €œInsane Icon€ Sting in a Hogan t-shirt carrying a clipboard. Which in wrestling either means contract or petition. This time it seems to be a contract as he wants Hogan to the ring. Hogan obliges. Hogan/Flair/Sting. Its like watching WCW in the mid 90s. Hogan says hes not clear to wrestle. Sting shows footage of Hogan beating him down which contradicts that statement. Sting wants to get it on right now but Hogan doesn€™t. Instead bring out another mid 90s staple in Eric Bischoff. Sting ignores him completely then decks him. Backstage, Karen Jarrett is telling a selection of Knockouts about their match tonight. Then she tells Miss Tessmacher not to even think about getting erotic. Kazarian walks up and tells Karen if she€™s not running a hoe house, why is she dressed like a madam. He insults her again, and she calls someone. Most definitely Jeff Jarrett himself. After that, there€™s a Bound For Glory hype package for the ladies. Elsewhere Jeff Hardy arrives and hes trying to regain the respect of the locker room. Miss Tessmacher vs. Mickie James Oh no, she€™s taken off her hoody. Karen won€™t be happy. And there goes the belt thing. Bring out Mickie James, stop this filth! Mickie cartwheels out of an arm bar. Then takes over herself. Brooke gives Mickie a cross body in the corner then wiggles her ass and sticks it in Mickie€™s face. Mickie isn€™t happy with that. Mickie gets serious and drops Tessmacher for the easy win. They€™re still friends after the match. Aww. Mexican America earlier today were shouting Hispanic at each other, like a more hardcore Los Guerreros. And it looks like they€™re off to get a tattoo. Al Snow is telling Jeff Hardy he respects him for trying to make amends. Hand shake. He warns him not to make same mistake again. And tells him to start at the top and work his way down. Austin Aries vs. Jesse Sorensen Aries all over him with the disrespectful amateur moves to begin with. Aries rolls through a back hand from Jesse and slips outside. He lifts Jesse€™s football at ringside and runs around making fun of him. Jesse with a baseball slide, and a HIGH Slingshot to ringside. Kid Kash struts toward ringside which distracts Jesse. Aries goes for a superplex but gets pushed off. High cross body from Jesse. 2 Count. Kash now has the football. Jesse with a strong lariat turns him inside out. Another two. Aries comes off the middle rope but Jesse dropkicks him down in mid air. Another two. Jesse goes for a reverse DDT type move but gets backed to the corner. Aries charges but eats a boot in the mush. Kash starts shouting, Jesse is distracted. Kash shoves the football into Jesse, who decides to chuck it right back at Kash. Referee is well distracted here, allowing Aries to blast Jesse with a flying dropkick. And its good for three! Ref has to keep Kash and Sorensen apart. Anderson and RVD are talking to the roaming TNA Camera about their match tonight. Then why not another hype package for Bound For Glory? Anarquia is ready for his tattoo. But first he needs some tequila, because you know, racial stereotypes. The tattooist has to leave and get the other artist and Anarquia tells Hernandez hes afraid of needles so they have to pray. So they do. Amen. And they get JUMPED at Amen by Ink Inc! Jesse and Hernandez go through a table in the office, while Moore and Anarquia are fighting in the waiting room. Anarquia grabs a bystander for cover but she elbows him. Ink Inc take him back into the office and beat him with a trash can. And it looks like now they€™re gunna force him a tattoo. Well, it sure sounds like they did, but the camera gets turned off just in time. Jeff Hardy is looking for Kurt, but Matt Morgan wants to talk. Hes disgusted at what Jeff did and took at as a slap to his own face. Morgan gives him one last chance. Then Morgan has a hype video for Bound For Glory. He mentions the Bound For Flory moment. Bit like Wrestlemania moment, but you know, TNA. Oh my god, Rob Van Dam is lying amongst a broken table with a chair on his head. The camera man drops the camera to help. Elsewhere, Jeff has found Kurt Angle to clear the air. Angle doesn€™t want him here and says nobody does. €œWho are you to judge me bro?€ Pot Kettle Black and all that. In fairness, Kurt has never been in such ridiculous shape. And not once in his career has he ever not shown up on top of his game. And speaking of Kurt, he€™s in the ring calling out Robert Roode. Angle congratulates him for being Kaz last week, and informs that tonight its Christopher Daniels on the agenda. Angle wonders if Chris will play by the rules against Roode. Rob replies that this isn€™t going to work. He tells Kurt for 13 years he€™s given everything and sacrificed for this one opportunity. Roode tells him he€™s the greatest that€™s ever lived. Roode says nothing and nobody will prevent him walking out with the title. Kurt tells him he knows someone who might stand in his way and brings out€ James Storm. Roode looks confused. Kurt nods on approvingly as Storm alludes to being bought out by Immortal. Storm is actually out here to get into it with Kurt. Storm tells him to make another match. Kurt Angle vs. James Storm. Storm says he helped build the company its time for people like he and Roode to get their justice. Storm tells him to get his gear on and get ready. €œSorry about your damn luck.€ Let€™s have another Bound For Glory hype video please. This time Beer Money. And after that another one for Bully Ray. Bully Ray and Jerry Lynn vs. Mr Anderson and RVD Pre match, Anderson has his usual self introduction. We€™re told that RVD was not cleared to wrestle after his attack earlier. So now it€™s a handicap match. Bully wants no part of Anderson yet, so Lynn starts. Anderson knocks Bully off the apron and gives Lynn his rolling fireman carry. Ref checks on Lynn so Ray crotches Anderson on the top. Tag to Bully. Scoop Slam and a splash for two. Tag to Lynn who is doing a lot of RVD mocking. Anderson fighting back on both men now and doing alright for himself. 2 count after neck breaker on Ray. Anderson manages a Mic Check but Lynn pulls him outside. Anderson takes him down and flies off the top rope onto Bully. He covers, Lynn flies off the top, Anderson moves, Lynn meets Ray. Lynn distracts the ref, allowing Bully to lift his chain and knock Anderson out for the one, two, three. In case you hadn€™t realised, Bound For Glory is coming up. This time it€™s AJ Styles thoughts. James Storm is telling the camera that he€™s happy for Roode. Chris Daniels vs. Robert Roode€ or not Well, its supposed to be that match but Chris Daniels is out with a microphone and in street clothes. Daniels tells Kurt Angle he will not be wrestling Roode. Daniels says he has nothing left to prove. 3 weeks ago he beat Styles. Daniels tells Roode, why would he even bother. This brings out AJ Styles. AJ wants to know what€™s up with the little jabs. Daniels says hes proved hes the better man. AJ says hes over the loss, but Daniels needs to get over it. AJ says if he keeps bringing his name up they€™ll have another match. Daniels says no, AJ slaps the mic away from him. AJ is about to leave when Daniels says €œI didn€™t know you were a sore loser and a bitch.€ AJ turns around and the brawl is on. Security has to storm the ring to separate the two. When we come back the two are still brawling around ringside. Kazarian runs out this time and gets between them. He tries to talk sense into both men and just as it looks like hes talked them around, Daniels BOOTS AJ hard and low. Angle and Steiner are backstage as Steiner claims to be training Angle and shouts a promo into the camera. Kazarian is understanding why Daniels is frustrated but Chris is tired of being in AJ shadow. Then Kaz goes to see Styles. He tries to talk some sense into AJ to see things from Chris point of view. AJ pretends to throw up in a bin. Well a boot in the balls will do that to you. Bischoff is somewhere talking loopholes to Hogan. Hogan promises to drop a bombshell next week that will change this BUSINESS forever. Not just TNA. The BUSINESS. James Storm vs. Kurt Angle This must be the main event since Jeremy is doing the introductions. Storm with the early advantage. Angle starts to come back but Storm dumps him to the outside. He follows out and takes him to the rail. Kurt blocks the steps though and drives Storm into them. Belly to Belly suplex on the RAMP! Back in the ring they go and Kurt is in control. Storm has to fight out of a bear hug then they both catch each other with cross body blocks. Storm is on fire now with clotheslines and a back stabber. Two count! Kurt with an overhead belly to belly for a two of his own. Storm reverses Angle Slam, Kurt reverses a power bomb with a leg trip into the Ankle Lock! Storm tries to kick off but he cant. He teases a tap but rolls through into a pin! Two count only. Storm scoop slam. Goes for the last call, Kurt blocks and spins him into a German€ And another€.And three. Two count only. Kurt goes up top and misses a moonsault. Now Storm is climbing up top. Kurt charges and jumps up, but gets knocked back down. Storm flying elbow, one, two, Kickout! Storm has him up now for Eye of the Storm but Gunner runs to the ring and distracts. Angle straight over with the Angle Slam. Storm kicks out! Storm goes for super kick, Angle moves and the ref takes it. Now here€™s one for Kurt. But there€™s no ref to count. Out runs Earl Hebner, but Gunner pulls him out of the ring. He lifts the title belt and decks Storm with it. Robert Roode runs out for the save and takes out Gunner. Roode lifts the belt and takes a long look at it. He raises it in Kurt€™s direction and his music plays. What€no finish? The ref just kind of wanders off and lets them stare each other out. Everyone just kind of forgets about the match. Reaction Strange ending to a main event, what with there being no ending to speak of. But the Robert Roode push rolls on well. TNA should definitely put the belt on Robert. Not only just because he deserves it, but also because its one of those €œBound for Glory€ moments that they€™re desperate for. The image of a well deserved star that TNA built themselves standing tall with their world title would be a fitting Bound For Glory moment. Elsewhere the Sting and Hogan stuff continued, despite the world€™s indifference. I have no idea where the Jeff Hardy storyline is headed, but I just hope it€™s not one of those €œI€™ve overcome my demons, now I€™m champion€ storylines. Match of the Night? Not a lot to choose from since they weren€™t many, and they were short. Sorensen vs Aries was good, but the main event between Storm and Angle was definitely the highlight despite it€™s no finish
