Viceland Launches In UK

A new TV channel for and by young people curious about life RIGHT NOW.

Viceland, the first UK TV channel from VICE, has recently launched in on Sky and NOW TV - and is being overseen by an Oscar winning director.

Spike Jonze, the man behind the likes of Being John Malkovich and Her, is serving as creative director for the outlet, much like he already does for the US version. The 24-hour channel will, in typical VICE fashion, be youth-focused, and include a mix of entertainment and lifestyle programming catered to its audience.

Offering a host of new and original content, the shows on offer include a mix of established stars and upcoming ones, with UK offerings including: The Viceland UK Census, a 90-minute documentary aiming to give young people across the country a platform to speak their mind across a range of topics; and Big Night Out, featuring Clive Martin (a regular on VICE's YouTube channel) travelling the world to video various party scenes, and examine how young people around the globe attempt to 'escape'.

Viceland US programmes will also be avaialble on the channel, which includes: Black Market, a factual series exploring the underground economies across the globe, fronted by The Wire star Michael K. Williams; and Gaycation, an Emmy-nominated factual series starring Ellen Page and her friend Ian Daniel, who travel the world looking at LGBT cultures.

Alex Miller, Creative Director EMEA, VICELAND, said: "Over the past decade, VICE has been making game changing video content on the internet and in doing so, transformed the way people make shows about food, news, fashion, culture, tech and more. Just as we changed the way everyone thought about online video, VICELAND will change the way we think about a TV channel. We're launching with a slate that we think fulfils our goal: to make VICELAND the most original and important TV channel for young people in the country."

The channel is available for all Sky TV customers in their basic TV subscription packages, and to NOW TV subscribers on demand.
