When The Walking Dead premiered in 2010, the premise of a world of zombies was guaranteed to win the show at least some viewers. There's nothing wrong with that zombies are great. Nevertheless, what has made The Walking Dead so resonant over the years is that the show is more about the struggles of the remnants of humanity against a backdrop of flesh-eaters than it is about the Walkers themselves.
Of course, as with any show that lasts for more than one season, there have been the occasional missteps of writing, pacing and characterization. For the most part, however, it has been a great show, and there is one department that has never truly been anything short of amazing the acting.
A show such as TheWalking Dead simply wouldn't work if the cast were unable to convey the fear and hopelessness of a Walker-infested world. The audience needs to feel it, and the actors must go to great lengths to ensure that the horrors of their characters' lives translate to viewers. Naturally, some of them are more effective than others.
So with this in mind, here are ten of the actors who really knocked it out of the park. Be warned, there are SPOILERS in this article.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
