Previously on The Walking Dead: Tyreese discovers Karen's and David's torched bodies; Tyreese demands the life of the killer; Bob examines a bottle of wine at the Big Spot in "30 Days Without an Accident"; Hershel tells the Council about the potential medication stash at the veterinary college fifty miles away; Daryl takes a dig at Michonne for still trying to track the Governor; Tyreese tells a sick Sasha that he is going on the medicine run with Daryl; a herd of Walkers overruns the car, forcing Daryl and Co. to flee on foot into the woods; Rick asks Carol if she killed Karen and David, which Carol confirms. Now: Spoilers ahead! (For anybody who wants to skip the recap, the review is on the last page.) A Trip To The Suburbs Inside the prison, Carol visits quarantined Lizzie. They speak through a glass panel, and Carol tells Lizzie that she will be going on a supply run with Rick. Lizzie says that nobody in the quarantine has died yet, but that it will be okay when they do because those people will be able to come back. Carol reminds her that coming back as a Walker isn't really coming back, but Lizzie is adamant that the Walkers are still people. "They're just different," Lizzie insists. Carol doesn't have time to argue with Lizzie, only wanting to remind her that she must do anything to survive. "If it's your life or your sister's life, you can't be afraid to kill," says Carol flatly. I like to think that my parents gave my brothers this same talk when they were preteens. "We can talk more about this when I come back from the run," Carol adds, "which I totally will, because I'm going with my good friend Rick who would never ever abandon me under any circumstances." Lizzie shows Carol her knife and accidentally calls her "Mom." Carol snaps that Lizzie must never call her that, but she calms enough to tell Lizzie to not be afraid. "You fight ," she says, "and you don't give up. And then one day, you just...change. We all change." Okay, I'm going to come out and say it: I don't hope that Carol will die, but if she does, I so want Lizzie to be the one to kill her. Carol And Lizzie Elsewhere, Rick wraps his sprained wrist in yet another roll of clean bandage, which is cool. It's not like there's only a finite amount of clean manufactured bandages left in the entire world or anything. Once wrapped, Rick goes to the abandoned A-Block and imagines how the murders might have transpired. He sees Imaginary Carol pretend to comfort Karen before sticking a knife into her back and dragging the body outside to douse with gasoline (of which there is also a finite quantity) and burn. Conflicted, Rick goes outside to their nice clean Hyundai. "You come fully-equipped with front and side airbags," Rick says to the car, "and I know that you would never betray me." He gasses up the car and begins to load their gear for the trip. As he lifts Carol's bundle of knives, he notices that one is missing. I don't see why that should be surprising in the zombie apocalypse, but I guess it's the symbolism that really matters. Car. Rick and Carol drive in uncomfortable silence until Carol mentions that Maggie had wanted to come with them. "Someone had to stay back," reasons Rick, "and watch over things." Also: stuff. Carol opines that he didn't trust her enough to leave her back at the prison, then launches into her first rationalization of the hour. "They would have drowned in their own blood," she says, "and they were suffering. I made it quick." Hers was the merciful course of action, she tells him. "Maybe," says Rick. Strike one, Carol. Suburbs. Rick and Carol discover a car that is in remarkably good condition, with gas in the tank and keys in the ignition. "It seems that this car belongs to some guy named Chekhov," Rick mutters. "I'm sure we'll come back to it later," says Carol. They head into one of the houses, where they scrounge for food, medication, and anything that might be marginally useful to them. Suddenly, a Walker appears at the top of a staircase and stumbles down toward Carol, who is only spared a zombie tackle when Rick pulls her out of the way. She collects herself and stabs it in the head. They hear movement upstairs and are surprised when a pair of hippies emerges from the bathroom with hands full of peaches.

Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
