The Walking Dead: 8 Songs That Really Set The Mood

Who thought the zombie apocalypse would be so darn musical?

The Walking Dead is immensely popular and that's down to a multitude of factors. The always entertaining ensemble cast, the interesting relationships and group dynamics, the mere premise in fact - what other show asks such questions about the human mind? How would we react in such a terrible situation? Sure, people come for the zombies, but they stay for the humans. However, over the course of the show, one thing that has consistently captivated audiences is the near-perfect soundtrack. After a new episode comes out, comments swamp the internet, wondering not what happened in the episode, but often what song was played. It seems to be happening even more so lately, with country-style music often being played over the top of certain events, adding a level of depth and a sometimes morose atmosphere to an already bleak show. Yet it just works so well, able to convey a feeling of gravitas to a scene where no words are being spoken. The current season has been utterly littered with these gems, but that's not to say earlier seasons weren't either. With The Walking Dead still ongoing (and showing no signs of stopping), there will undoubtedly be more songs in the future, but for now, let us pay homage to some of the best songs that really set a mood in the series, be they for events to come or the characters themselves. Naturally there are spoilers for the series inbound, so prepare yourself for what lies ahead.
