What Happened Next? 10 Planned Seasons Of Cancelled TV Shows

10. Journeyman: Full Season 1 And Beyond

NBC

Journeyman was one of the biggest losses of the 2007 Writer's Strike. Investigative newspaper reporter Dan Vassar (Kevin McKidd) discovers that he is being thrown back and forth through time to correct the mistakes of the past. It starred Reed Diamond as his suspicious cop brother Jack, Gretchen Egolf as his wife Katie, and Moon Bloodgood as his supposedly dead fiancée Livia who reveals that she too is travelling through time and there was a much greater purpose at play. Over the thirteen episodes it got better and better and became one of the highlights of the 2007/08 season. And then NBC cancelled it...

But according to series creator Kevin Falls, there was a much bigger plan for the rest of the season and beyond. The constant and disruptive time travelling would have put a strain on Dan and Katie's relationship but they would have survived it. As for Livia (revealed as having come from 1948) after he encountered an elderly version in 2008, she would have died in the 20th episode; Dan would then have saved her in 21 and then in the finale his actions would have changed time forever, as he returned to his home to find his wife and son wiped from existence.

But the bigger plot was centred on the people he saved in the past coming together in the present for an even bigger story arc centred around the government sending Dan and Livia back and forth through time.

There is still a lot we will never know, like what a second season would have looked like, but one thing is certain; it all had a purpose and judging by those 13 episodes it would probably have been awesome.
