What Happened Next? 10 Planned Seasons Of Cancelled TV Shows

3. Angel Season 6

Warner Bros

Whereas Buffy The Vampire Slayer got a reprieve thanks to UPN after Warner Bros cancelled the show, its spin-off Angel had no such luck. With the announcement happening quite late in production, Joss Whedon chose to stick to his original game plan for the rest of the season, even though that ended it on quite a cliffhanger. Worse still, as a conclusion to the entire Buffyverse we were left with more questions than answers. So what would have happened? The season six comic offers a number of clues, though by all accounts it would have played out rather differently on screen.

For a start, there would have been a bit of a reprieve for Fred, either with her personality re-asserting herself (though given the whole 'soul burned from existance' plot this seems unlikely) or Willow returning to help separate Fred from Illyria. Recurring werewolf and love interest for Angel, Nina, would have become a main character and Oz would have apparently returned (discussions were already underway with Seth Green) to appear for multiple episodes as a sort of guide to all things wolfy. And in a similar fashion to the comic, the first few episodes would have taken place in another dimension, as a result of the epic battle with Wolfram & Hart and all the horrors - dragon included - that they unleashed in Not Fade Away.

It certainly appears as if epic would have been the word for season six. Who knows, perhaps Sarah Michelle Gellar's schedule would have cleared up for her to finally make another appearance as Buffy...
