WWE HELL IN A CELL 2011 Review

VERDICT: The final chaotic angle was tremendous in the sense that the threat of Miz and R-Truth was booked to gradually escalate throughout the night from the pair trying to watch in the stands at the start of the show leading to them attacking Air Boom in the locker room before going all out in their final hellacious assault. Having all the superstars and officials come out made the assault seem important and threatening and it made for great drama having already witnessed Del Rio throw the key away under the ring apron. This storyline is also (thus far) based on a much simpler idea of two men being fed up of not being treated like main eventers and going out of their way to demand attention from both the company and its fans. The downside is that the carnage detracted from a world title change but with Del Rio's current win marking the seventh wwe title change in less than three months my hope that some effort will go into rebuilding this championship really is becoming something of a lost cause. It was also great to see Mark Henry cleanly defend his title against Randy Orton as the pros of having Henry as champion far outweigh the advantages of Orton holding the gold. Not only does it make Henry alluring in his dominance but it also adds a fantastic human element to the usually robotically undefeatable Orton. It would be wise now for the creative team to try and expand on Orton's two dimensional character instead of just randomly gifting him another title shot. The other matches saw Air Boom defend the titles in a match that actually put over the titles, the IC Title being given some much needed attention, Beth finally winning the Divas championship and Sheamus putting in a great babyface performance. The WWE Title has absolutely no direction at the time being and this is rather depressing but on this night at least it couldn't taint what was overall a brilliant PPV. SUPERSTAR OF THE NIGHT: Alberto Del Rio €“ Played his role perfectly with a subtle blend of smugness and cowardice. MOMENT OF THE NIGHT: Del Rio turning to face John Cena as he was locked on the outside. Cena's restrained anger wonderfully complimented Del Rio's cunning, extravagant smile.
