Netflix's 13 Reasons Why first hit the streaming service all the way back in 2017 and, in the two years that followed, it has gone onto become one of the most talked-about and controversial shows in recent memory.

Focusing on the death of Hannah Baker, the first season retrospectively told her story through the use of 13 tapes - all of which detailed the tragic events that led to her ending her own life. Thus, it was up to her flawed friend Clay Jensen - who was in love with her - to figure out what happened and ultimately get justice for her.

While the show's subject matter undoubtedly caused controversy, it ultimately told the story that it set out to. However, in a bizarre turn of events, Netflix renewed the show for a second season - one which continued to detail how Hannah's classmates were coping in the aftermath of her death and how they reacted to the revelations on the tapes.

While that offering received an overwhelmingly negative response, the streaming giant once again renewed the show for a third season - and said third season is almost upon us.
