Love him or hate him; 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most famous athlete the sport of mixed martial arts has ever produced. The former two-division champion is also among the most gifted trash talkers of his generation, which is among the many reasons he's become such a polarizing figure.

Now that the Irishman is set to make his long-awaited return to the Octagon at UFC 246, he has seemingly once again became the center of the sports universe.

Of course, given the level of notoriety McGregor has received in recent years, MMA fans already know a good deal about the man.

That being said, despite the level of fame he's achieved, there are certain aspects of 'The Notorious One's' life that have received little to no attention — at least until now.

In an effort to better understand the fighter who has been the subject of numerous headlines, on his way to becoming (arguably) the sport's first mainstream attraction, it's time to delve into several little known facts about the UFC's top star.

10. He Was Bullied As A Child

Given that he's established himself as one of the most proficient strikers in the UFC, it's hard to imagine anyone bullying Conor McGregor.

However, according to The Sun, as a child, other kids would taunt and even 'come at' McGregor, who responded by running off. The future UFC champ became so concerned that he eventually began to carry a dumbbell in his backpack to even the odds a bit, in case things got physical.

Over time, McGregor understandably grew tired of being picked on and headed to a local gym where he began to train. In essence, albeit unintentionally, the young bullies started McGregor down a path that would eventually lead to both UFC gold and extraordinary wealth.

Though it was no doubt a trying period for the eventual UFC megastar, it's fair to say it was McGregor who ended up having the last laugh.
