5 Predictions For UFC 192

Saturday October 3rd in Houston, Texas, current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will defend his newly won title against Alexander Gustafsson, the man who pushed former champion Jon Jones the furthest (back at UFC 165 in Toronto). It's absolutely the most bizarre match-up imaginable. Cormier just won the title from Anthony Johnson in the Spring, following Jon Jones being stripped of his title after hitting a pregnant woman's car with his own, and fleeing the scene. After the fact, the fighter returned to the vehicle to collect money, only to run off again, leaving behind evidence of drugs. Cormier had just lost to Jones in January, so it was a second chance for "D.C." Now it's Gustafsson's second chance: he lost to Johnson, the man Cormier defeated to win the vacant title, back in January. Sound like a UFC version of musical chairs yet? What all this boils down to is that two men who are not Jon Jones, who have both lost to Jon Jones, are now fighting for the title that Jones was stripped of - the very week that it was announced he will not face any jail time, or even a criminal record, so long as he completes some court-ordered probation. While the UFC was right to strip him of the belt, you can't help but feel this is just a fight to determine who gets Jones in his return. That's not to say it won't be a great fight, however. And the rest of the card looks impressive as well. Here are five predictions for it.
