UFC: Henderson vs. Dos Anjos, Mousasi vs. Jacare Announced

Benson Henderson will meet Rafael dos Anjos, and Gegard Mousasi will face Jacare Souza in August!

1-Benson-Henderson The UFC has confirmed two pivotal fights for this coming August, which will have title implications for the lightweight and middleweight divisions. First up, on August 2nd, at UFC 176 in Los Angeles, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi, who just this May choked out Mark Munoz at UFC Fight Night: Munoz vs. Mousasi, will face off against former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, who is undefeated in the UFC, and hasn't lost since losing his Strikeforce belt to another possible title contender, Luke Rockhold, in 2011. The middleweight bout is slotted to be the co-main event of the evening. Both men are potential title challengers at the 185lb class. On August 23rd meanwhile, Benson Henderson, coming off a win against Rustam Khabilov earlier this month, will headline the UFC's Fight Night card in Tulsa, Oklahoma, against Rafael dos Anjos, who also scored a key win on the Henderson vs. Khabilov card. This is a fight WhatCulture! suggested in our Fights to Make for the Winners article on UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Khabilov, and it was the best bout available for Henderson, who remains ranked #1 in the lightweight division, but won't be seeing a title shot any time soon with champ Anthony Pettis scheduled to take on Gilbert Melendez next. Both bouts have the possibility of being title eliminators for their respective weight classes, although there has been no official word on their title implications as of yet.
