UFC: South Korean Fighter Picks Up 100K In Bonus Money

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMy1K6wlHIs Tae Hyun Bang is a hundred thousand dollars richer after his match at UFC 174. The UFC has announced performance bonuses from Saturday€™s UFC 174 event in Vancouver, Canada, and Tae Hyun Bang was perhaps the biggest winner from Saturday, at least given his relatively low position on the card. Opening the televised prelims, South Korea's Bang was up against Canadian fighter and former TUF Nations contestant Kajan Johnson. After two rounds of solid action, Bang caught Johnson after the Canadian attempted a kick, dropping him to the mat with a solid right hand. As Big John McCarthy moved in to wave off the bout, Bang suddenly found himself in the envious position of having upset the host nation€™s fighter, having a potential knockout of the night win, and, well, having started things off with a bang (the fighter€™s name is not actually pronounced like the sound, so excuse the pun). While a knockout bonus (now referred to as a Performance of the Night bonus, of which there are two) might have been expected, it came as a bit of a surprise that Bang was able to double up, as the fight took home Fight of the Night honours as well. As a result, Bang picked up $100,000 in bonus money, while for his part, Kajan Johnson took home $50,000 in bonus cash. The other Performance of the Night award went to Kiichi Kunimoto for his rear-naked choke finish of Daniel Sarafian. The event had an attendance of 13,506 and a live gate of approximately 1.14 million dollars according to the promotion.
