10 Annoying Things That Wrestling Is Obsessed With
Nothing is funnier than sh*t or penis jokes. Just ask WWE - they'll tell you.
Everyone has experienced one of those moments: WWE, AEW (or any other wrestling product) is on, and something happens that makes you screw up your face or wonder why they bothered. It could be something that insults your intelligence, or a booking trope that's just really, really annoying.
And yet, the wheel keeps on turning - promotions will use these tropes over and over again.
There are things that pro wrestling is just obsessed with, and it feels like it always has been. Perhaps the most bothersome thought is that none of these issues will suddenly disappear or be considered 'old hat' to the people writing wrasslin' telly. After all, who doesn't giggle away at toilet humour or want to see unnecessary reality blur with fantasy and totally spoil two characters at once?
Who?!
Seriously, this is a problem, and it can cause embarrassment when one is trying to enjoy wrestling in front of non-fans who can't wait to pick holes in the medium. Explaining why grown men and women use school playground language weekly, or find it hilarious to throw pies at one another, can be tough...
10. The Word “Bitch”
'You heard me right...bitch', 'I'm nobody's bitch', 'Why don't you come in this ring and say that to my face instead of acting like a little bitch?' - you can't move for the "bitches" in this place. Wrestling loves using the 'B' word to add a layer of disrespect on top of promos.

This catty behaviour is more at home on reality TV than WWE or AEW's products, but it'll be omni-present until the end of time. If creative are stuck for something that'll add heat between two wrestlers, then one will call the other a "bitch" and everybody is expected to act like that's the worst thing they could've said.
Sure, Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre might've torn lumps out of one another inside Hell In A Cell, but that pales in comparison to one calling the other a "bitch". How dare they! This is definitely a trope that the writers need to dial down on, because it has lost all intended impact.
