10 Awesome NXT TV Matches From 2016 You Need To Rewatch

NXT is stale, supposedly. These ten televised matches argue otherwise.

Although we have yet to receive anything less than an excellent TakeOver special, the weekly NXT television show airing on Wednesdays is usually far from must-see.

It features the talent of tomorrow competing in uneventful squash matches while building toward whatever marquee match they are involved in at the upcoming event.

That formula has been criticised by a portion of fans over the last year for not being quite as exciting as it was two or three years ago - and while that may be true to an extent, there is no denying that NXT has hosted its fair share of classic contests over the past year. Granted, the majority of those occurred on TakeOver specials, but there were a few that flew under the radar, having taken place on NXT TV.

Thanks to easy accessibility of the WWE Network, you can check them out at any time...

10. Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Tye Dillinger (Apr 13)

What would a top ten list be without "The Perfect 10," Tye Dillinger?

Although he's been down in developmental for the last twenty or so years, Dillinger finally came into his own as a competitor in 2016, and began to build momentum as a babyface. But before that, he was still squaring off against every elite athlete NXT had to offer - and losing to them in relatively quick fashion.

Following the departure CJ Parker in 2015, Dillinger took over his spot as the "go-to jobber" of NXT, losing to up-and-coming stars in their debut match on the brand. Shinsuke Nakamura was no different. Granted, he wrestled a five star classic against Sami Zayn at TakeOver: Dallas, but the April 13 episode of NXT marked his first match on the black-and-yellow brand's weekly Wednesday program.

The match didn't last more than a few minutes, but it was extremely entertaining while it lasted. Dillinger was a fantastic foil for Nakamura, who exuded charisma and immediately captured the attention of those in attendance.
