Poor wrestlers who immediately tackled the main-eventers.

When a wrestler makes his debut in the WWE, they tend to take a while - a couple of years at least - to get to the level where they're challenging for the top titles. Moreover, even when they do reach that level, it's generally because they've proven themselves to be great in-ring performers, technically proficient and hard working. A lot of eventual big stars started out as midcarders. Chris Jericho lost his first WWE match to Road Dogg and went on to feud with Chyna over the Intercontinental title. Rey Mysterio had to start off in the lightweight divisions of the WWE. Eddie Guerrero had to feud with the likes of Essa Rios for the European title before he became a big player. Then you had the likes of incredibly talented wrestlers such as William Regal, Dean Malenko, John Morrison and Shelton Benjamin who never really got presented as very top level threats by the WWE. However, there have been a select few wrestlers who, despite lacking in the talent or having a great attitude and/or reputation, were almost immediately mixing it with the best, challenging for the top titles and, even more surprisingly, actually being taken seriously and posing a threat to the big players This article is going to take a look at some of those wrestlers - the ones who really weren't in the same league as the big time players they were thrown in the mix with at the time.
