10 Babyface Champions WWE Fans Just Wouldn’t Accept

There's little doubt that Vince McMahon saw money when looking at Kevin Nash. Stretching right back to Diesel's performance at the 1994 Royal Rumble, the idea that 'Big Daddy Cool' could one day transform into the WWF's champion babyface was being played around in the boss's mind.

The end result was a year-long stint as WWF Champ for the big man, but it wouldn't quite reap the financial rewards McMahon was hoping for.

Perhaps the core problem lay with Diesel's sheer size; bigger and meaner looking than many of his opponents, it was difficult for the champion to garner sympathy from his audience. Matches against Bret Hart provide a clear example of this: as the smaller man, the gamey Hart was someone fans could live vicariously though in his attempts to dethrone the monstrous Diesel.

Although popular, the undeniable cool and obvious power Diesel possessed made it hard for people to identify with him properly. His year long run as champion may often be unfairly critiqued, but it is true that Nash couldn't quite convince fans he was one of them.
