10 Best Heel Moments In WWE Raw History

Almost all of wrestling's biggest stars - Hogan, Rock, Austin - have spent the bulk of their careers (or at least the most lucrative part) in the role of crowd-pleasing good guys.

And yet, for a lot of us, the individual moments that have lasted longest in the memory tend to involve heels at their centre - partly because they are traditionally allowed to go places that face counterparts aren't, and partly because we're all secretly sociopaths.

The career of Chris Jericho illustrates this point capably. If you asked a hundred fans to name their favourite Y2J segment, it's likely that the majority would cite his clash with Shawn and Rebecca Michaels at SummerSlam 2008, or the famous "hot-tag" during his stint as a troll a few years later.

None of that is to imply that Jericho isn't effective as a face (although the fact that all his title wins came as a bad guy tells its own story). It's just a sorry fact that, in today's topsy-turvy world in particular, being mean and unpleasant is far more likely to generate a buzz.

It's a little odd that it took Shawn Michaels less than three years to go from being one of WWE's biggest and most formidable in-ring competitors to being, in efffect, a civillian who had no way of defending himself from an attack.

But, then again, there's not a lot you can really do when your assailant is Brock Lesnar, who in August 2012 kidnapped the Heartbreak Kid backstage and dragged him into the ring, where he applied his terrifying version of the Kimura lock.

The brilliance of this segment came when Paul Heyman told Triple H, who had marched down the entrance ramp to come to the aid of his best bud, that the Beast Incarnate would not break his arm if HHH agreed not to move another muscle - only for him to then do it anyway, just for kicks.

It's fair to say that HBK's acting ability over the years has been hit and miss, but on this occasion he succeeded in making fans believe that his arm had just been snapped like a twig, to which The Game responded with his trademark "furious to the point of having a seizure" face.
