Over the years, Extreme Rules has carved itself a niche as one of the better B-list pay-per-views.

And though this year’s instalment lacked some of the big names that previous events have boasted, we were still treated to a pretty stellar showing at Extreme Rules 2015.

Of course, many are viewing this as a result of low expectations, but I’d like to adopt a more positive stance and give the event the credit that it’s due.

The tag title bout was a quality affair, complementing nicely the cat-and-mouse shenanigans of Luke Harper and Dean Ambrose. Throughout the night the booking was on point, with smartly assembled finishes in the Russian Chain and Cage matches. And perhaps most impressively, Roman Reigns surmounted the odds by winning over a Chicago audience in a 20-minute match with the Big Show. Did anyone really see that one coming?

As well as all that though, one couldn’t help but pick up on a number of humorous one-liners that only added to the show’s entertainment value. From the planned to the improvised, the evening was littered with the kind of subtle witticisms that make pro wrestling such an amusing pastime.

This article picks out ten of the most memorable of those one-liners that we heard at Extreme Rules 2015.

10. "Go back to the suburbs"

In typical maverick fashion, Dean Ambrose hijacked the Extreme Rules pre-show in a bid to rile up the Chicago crowd.

After photobombing the set, the Lunatic Fringe made his way to the panel where he ousted Byron Saxton from his spot, recommending the University of Florida alumni “go back to the suburbs”.

Presumably totally unscripted, it was a nice way of reinforcing the both Ambrose’s cool factor and the nerdy-ness of character that the WWE appear intent on painting Saxton as—despite his accomplishment on the mic. Saxton later returned sheepishly once Ambrose beckoned him back to tie up a simple yet effective segment.
