10 Best WCW Monday Nitro Matches Ever

No surprise that the cruiserweights had some of WCW's best matches.

WCW Monday Nitro was one of the most important television shows in the history of professional wrestling. If Nitro didn't debut in September of 1995 as a weekly live wrestling show to counter WWE Monday Night Raw, then WWE would have never felt the need to become a better product as they ushered in the Attitude Era. When fans think of Nitro they think of the moments more than the matches, but it would be wrong to ignore the quality work that WCW's in-ring performers put on display on a weekly basis. While Nitro ceased to be in March of 2001, it left behind a legacy of classic wrestling matches during a run that spanned 290 episodes. While it would be very difficult to re-watch everything again, there are several standout matches that took place on Nitro that are definitely worth watching again. Some of their bright spots included their excellent Cruiserweight division led by Rey Mysterio Jr. and some top guys known for great matches like Ric Flair, Randy Savage, Sting and Diamond Dallas Page. Hulk Hogan main evented a lot of shows too, but he wasn't known for great matches even though there are a few that were pretty memorable. Some of these matches have been released on WWE's Best of Monday Nitro DVDs while others have been posted on WWE Network as part of their Nitro archives, so if you want to check them out for yourself there are plenty of ways to do so. Here are ten of the best matches in WCW Nitro history.
