Saturday's NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn show gave us yet another reminder of just how far WWE has come over recent years with regards to giving its female performers the chance to shine.

Asuka and Ember Moon tore the house down - in what was easily the number one match of the night - for the second time this year. And it wasn't just a technically assured display either, but one that told the story of a dominant champion and an dogged challenger.

The women's ranks in NXT isn't just a secondary title novelty, neither a building ground for the main roster, but rather a hugely competitive division which has become a Network attraction in and of itself.

We've seen three years of high-quality wrestling matches, to the extent that, were you to compile a list of the all-time best WWE women's bouts, there's a good chance as many as six or seven of them would be drawn from NXT shows, and not those put on by the so-called main roster.

Whether the likes of Asuka and Ember are utilised correctly when they do make the step up remains to be seen, but we'll always have these to look back on.

10. Charlotte Vs. Natalya (2014 - NXT TakeOver)

The NXT Women's title was vacant for the very first TakeOver show, way back in May 2014. Erstwhile champion Paige had just stepped up to the main roster, leaving a spot vacant for the position of leading lady.

The two contenders had a great deal in common: both Charlotte and Natalya hail from famous wrestling families, with Ric Flair and Bret Hart accompanying their respective proteges to the ring.

With the opportunity to head up the imminent Women's Revolution (which hadn't yet taken shape) up for grabs, the match was fought with an intensity not seen in WWE's female division for a long time.

Apart from anything, it really made you wonder what WWE was doing with Natalya for the preceding five years, during which she had scarcely been afforded more than five minutes in the ring at a time.
