10 Best Wrestling Matches Of The Week (July 11)

Did Cesaro and John Cena have the best match for the second week in a row?

When looking back at all the wrestling shows of the past week, there were a few programs that were incredibly solid, while most of the other shows were thankfully saved by one or two really strong bouts.

As far as the better shows go, WWE set the bar high for this week's list of best matches with last Saturday's Beast in the East show. Two very good matches came from that event.

Another great show was Lucha Underground. None of their three matches were below three stars. That's a marked improvement for a promotion that was totally absent from this list last week.

That's the beauty of the current era of professional wrestling. Raw might only have had one truly great match this week, but there's a constant reminder to the wrestling world that hungry promotions and talent are working hard to get viewers.

That's the purpose of this article. All matches from Raw, Smackdown, NXT, TNA Impact, Lucha Underground, and (last week's special event) Beast in the East have been ranked against each other. It's a way to see how all of what's being offered stands up against each other.

Thursday's Smackdown is considered the final show of the 'week,' as far as this article considers. But with that disclaimer out of the way, here are the ten very best wrestling bouts of the week...

10. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs. The Vaudevillians (NXT)

The tenth best match of the week was between two of the most entertaining tag teams in WWE. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady took on Simon Gotch & Aiden English to determine the number one contenders to Blake & Murphy's NXT Tag Titles.

Both team's unique entrances add value to the overall presentation. Big Cass even saved his S-A-W-F-T until after the match started, so they did a slight change up to protocol.

There's a specific formula that Enzo and Big Cass use in building to a hot tag where the seven footer cleans house. It's not a bad formula, they just do it all the time, like on this night.

The match picked up after the Colin hot tag and it seemed like they could have pulled out the win, but it wasn't their night. Aiden English was able to roll through a crossbody by Enzo into the winning pinfall.

Both of these teams are very entertaining but it's a little surprising that Enzo & Cass have never held the tag straps. They're so over so the logic is probably that they don't really need the Championships.
