10 Best WWE Feuds Of The Attitude Era

Was it really all that?

To many, the Attitude Era was the greatest in professional wrestling history. To others, it was Mae Young giving birth to a hand.

But whatever you think about the period, warts and all, you have to admit that it spawned some of the all-time great wrestling feuds. Feuds that are still being spoken about today as some of the best ever. Feuds to which subsequent ones - however seemingly original - are now forever being compared (usually unfavourably).

The reason, apart from intense competition from Ted Turner's big-spending WCW, was the unparalleled depth and (just as important) diversity of the WWE roster. Several of its biggest ever stars - Stone Cold, The Rock, Undertaker, Triple H, Mick Foley - all peaked at the same time, later joined by hungry upstarts like Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, and Kane.

All of them were constantly reinventing themselves too - heel to face, face to heel, Deadman to American Badass, D-Generation X leader to Mr. Stephanie McMahon - and the result was a constantly replenishing well of fresh rivalries.

Truly, this was the time to be a professional wrestling fan.

10. Chris Jericho Vs. Triple H

It's a little unfortunate that Chris Jericho versus Triple H has become synonymous with their WrestleMania X8 main event which, all things considered, was something of a damp squib (although that fate may have befallen just about any pairing that followed The Rock and Hogan).

Two years earlier, though, the face-heel dynamics (along with Stephanie McMahon's loyalties) were reversed, and the feud was altogether less predictable as a result. Jericho sealing a title reign that never was, and the 'Cerebral Assassin' chasing Earl Hebner up the entrance ramp being were its most memorable moments.

They followed that up with what was undoubtedly their best ever match - and one that put their WrestleMania encounter to shame - when they met in a Last Man Standing bout at Fully Loaded 2000.
