10 Best WWE Matches That Ever Happened At Nassau Colliseum

The famous building has hosted some great WWE matches over the years.

The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum (more commonly referred to as the Nassau Coliseum or simple The Coliseum) is closing its doors before a proposed renovation. Vince McMahon addressed the Nassau crowd before May 25th 2015 Raw and told them that it would be the last WWE event in the building. The Coliseum has been the host of many WWE events over the years. There have been four pay-per-views held at the Uniondale, New York arena (which opened in 1972), thirty episodes of Raw, Smackdown and ECW and countless house shows. The company's ties to the arena date back to 1974, when WWWF Heavyweight Champion and future Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino headlined against Stan Stasiak. There have been many great moments at The Nassau Coliseum over the years, the latest of which was Dean Ambrose invading Raw in a Police wagon. How about the debut of Ambrose idol and all-around madman Terry Funk as Chainsaw Charlie in December 1997? WWE tends to go that extra mile when they play in New York. Vince McMahon understands how crucial that market is and the history that the WWE has in the city. The wrestlers understand that, too, and although it may not be Madison Square Garden, The Coliseum was still a big, historic venue with a crowd that demanded the best. So let's take a look at those wrestlers that enthralled Coliseum crowds over the years.
