There are a number of mechanisms that the WWE possesses that can enrich the drama of a show. Whether it’s the surprise return of a familiar face or an unexpected heel or face turn, such developments as exciting as these have been delighting fans for decades.

More recently though, we’ve seen the emergence of another spectacular circumstance; the Money in the Bank cash-in. Whomever wins the Money in the Bank briefcase has the opportunity to cash it in for a World Title shot any time within the next year.

Just as surprising as the returns and heel turns, it’s no wonder we fans love the cash-in. Adding to that the fact that we usually only see it once a year and it always involves the top title, and you could make a strong case that this is the industry’s greatest innovation of the past fifteen years of so.

As of today, there have been fifteen Money in the Bank cash-ins - thirteen of which have been successful. As such, there’s a veritable feast of pro wrestling drama to indulge in. With the 2015 Money in the Bank PPV right around the corner, let's reminisce about the ten greatest Money in the Bank cash-ins of all time.

We start with a man whose cash-in was 'awesome' but whose star has failed to shine as brightly since...

Back in the summer of 2010, the Nexus were running roughshod over the WWE. And their presence would continue to be felt in November of the same year, when the band of renegades beat down then-WWE Champion Randy Orton.

Orton was then forced to defend his title against Wade Barrett later that night - which he managed to do. But not without the contest taking its toll on The Viper.

For Miz, the self-aggrandising, arrogant heel, this was an opportunity that was too good to turn down. Moments after Orton’s victory, he emerged with the briefcase in hand.

The two then put on a decent, yet unspectacular, back-and-forth match, which at three minutes was one of the longer Money in the Bank cash-ins on record. Ultimately though, the Awesome One pulled off a pretty, well, awesome reversal, resisting the champ’s attempted RKO and transitioning to a Skull Crushing Finale.

As the name suggests, that was all she wrote. The Miz was WWE Champion.
