As per reports earlier this month, Bobby Lashley looks set to run down the final few months of his Impact contract before heading off for pastures new in the early part of 2018.
From there, the world is pretty much his oyster. Following his work with Bellator, the 41-year-old is an established name in the world of MMA, and probably won't be short of offers when it comes to his next big career step.
But a return to WWE - the company that he left under a bit of a cloud a decade ago, after failing to live up to all of that early promise - has to be somewhere in the back of his mind as well.
Now that he's proved himself away from Vince McMahon's empire, the company's creative team would likely roll out the red carpet for a return, allowing him to bypass NXT altogether for a spot on Raw or SmackDown.
And, of course, there's the potential for a mega-match with fellow legitimate fighter Brock Lesnar - which ought be a big money-spinner for all involved, provided (and this is a big "if") they get the booking right.
