10 Biggest Stories From New Japan's G1 Special And What They Mean Going Forward

9. Hangman Page Continues Upward Trajectory

The Bullet Club is a group full of proverbial young guns, but the twenty-six year-old Hangman Page continues to steal away attention with his tenacity and potential. By the end of the G1 Special in San Francisco, the Bullet Club’s future would be the talk of the wrestling world. However, Marty Scurll and Adam Page brought the glory of victory to the BC earlier in the evening.

While Scurll and Page showed themselves to be a competent and quite cohesive tag team, it was Hangman who captured the pinfall over Kushida. A Rite of Passage piledriver was all it took for Page to put away the former Junior Heavyweight champ, and while it was Kushida that took the loss, Hangman now officially holds a win over New Japan’s ace Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Hangman Page continues to shine brighter than ever and his reserves are full of potential. Like many other New Japan stars, the young American will be competing in the 28th G1 Climax tournament. As part of the A Block, Page will find himself facing off with more established stars like Michael Elgin, Kazuchika Okada, and even Tanahashi. If the Hangman is able to defeat even one of the promotion’s elite competitors, it may lead him straight to the top of New Japan.
