10 Biggest WWF vs WCW Clashes

Triple H vs Sting is just the latest in a long line of post-Monday Night Wars clashes.

With WrestleMania 31 rapidly approaching, one of the most eagerly-anticipated matchups on the (admittedly thin) card is surely Triple H's encounter with Sting. The main selling point is that, for many years, wrestling fans never thought they'd see Sting ever compete in a WWE ring at all, let alone at WrestleMania. The dominance Vince McMahon and Ted Turner shared over the wrestling industry during its most popular period resulted in fans endlessly debating over dream clashes between stars of either promotion, yet surprisingly few of these bouts ever came to fruition - and fewer still lived up to their mammoth potential. Although the inevitable ship-jumping throughout the 1990s (and subsequent death of WCW) led to a number of bouts between wrestlers seen as representing either promotion, only a handful provoked feelings of two distinct worlds colliding. When done right, however, such bouts could seem almost as big as the wrestling industry itself. Much has been said about the need for competition at the top of the wrestling food chain, and the WWE's monopoly in this regard has certainly resulted in stagnation. The war between WCW and the WWF didn't just lead to a better product as both promotions strived to better one another; it also generated a unique form of entertainment - an interest in the inter-promotional rivalry itself. This is the reason such clashes were so popular; however carefully-booked and pre-determined they were, they acted as a manifestation of the war itself. Here are ten of the biggest in-ring WWF vs WCW feuds, with decidedly mixed results.
