10 Bizarre WWE Scenes You Totally Don’t Remember

7. Tears Of A Clown

Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kurt Angle's 2001 comedy is rightfully lauded for memorable vignettes featuring the pair working to impress Mr McMahon as heels during the fight of The Chairman's life early into the Invasion storyline.

Like many areas of that year on television though, it was all downhill from there.

After Austin joined The Alliance, Angle's babyface turn resulted in an exceptional SummerSlam match that unfortunately left little room for rematches. 'The Rattlesnake' snuck out of the August supershow with his title, but had dominated so much of the match against the Olympian that he'd rendered Kurt's future challenges moot.

Seemingly knowing of this but keen to deliver the WWE Championship to the babyface one way or another, WWE had 'The Rattlesnake' bawl his eyes out under threat of getting shoved, shackled, into a nearby river.

The above punchline was painfully Vince McMahon in comedic charm - that is to say, it had f*cking none - but worst of all it steered too far into the cowardice of the heel Austin gimmick. It was all for waste too. The brave commitment in the character was lost once he swallowed up the action when the bell rang.
