8. Vs Kurt Angle (TNA Lockdown 2011)

Though not quite on a par with their exceptional 2009 series, the re-imagined rivalry between Kurt Angle and Jeff Jarrett yielded a host of matches that exploited the real-life turmoil between both men in the intervening years. Comedy had been in high supply in the build, with Jarrett and Angle's use of wedding cakes, ziplines and axes (!) undermining an arc that had the potential to be the company's best.

Fortunately, both capably delivered everything their experience promised when the bell rang. An under-appreciated scrap underneath the 'Lethal Lockdown' show-closer, the two men went just 15 seconds less than the eight combatants in the headliner, fighting through exhaustion to craft an epic the feud desperately required.

Months before they'd contest their actual Final Battle in June, the duo fought under 'Ultra Male' rules. The steel cage showdown was divided into three, with submission, pinfall and escape required for either to emerge victoriously.

The finish was marred in frustrating TNA silliness, but ultimately didn't tarnish the battle. Unable to leave via a locked door in the third fall, Kurt couldn't climb out due to chair-wielding rival Gunner, resulting in a suicidal missed moonsault back into the structure from the Olympian.

Bloody and beaten, Jarrett remained flattened until wife Karen emerged to spray mace in the recovered Angle's eyes. Shaking off a requisite guitar shot, 'Double J' himself became the subject of a literal tug of war between Kurt and Karen until the Mrs Jarrett slammed an open cage door in her ex-husband's face.
