Three and a half years have passed since CM Punk walked out on WWE, but his name is still on the tip of many tongues. Every couple of months rumours begin to swirl about a possible return to the ring, only for those rumours to come to nothing. It is undeniable that he is sorely missed.

Many remember CM Punk for his verbal skills, his ability to take words uttered into a microphone and create moments in time. His character chops were so strong that it is often forgotten just how good he was in between the ropes. He could wrestle a variety of styles against a variety of opponents, bringing good matches out of below average workers (Hey Ryback!) and putting on clinics with the best of the best (Hey Daniel Bryan!).

WWE has changed in many ways since Punk left. NXT has become a glorified dream indy promotion, and a whole host of top talent is now with the company. In 2014 nobody could envisage Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles showing up in WWE, let alone being two of the top stars.

A new crop of superstars are rocketing towards the sun as older ones get new winds, creating many dream CM Punk matches that fans must lament not getting to see.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
