10 Contenders To Become WWE 205 Live's General Manager

Who'll be the purple president?

This past week on 205 Live, Daniel Bryan gravely announced Enzo Amore's decision to 'abdicate' the cruiserweight title as though he was some sort of king. Obviously, making it seem like the beleaguered New Jerseyan's decision deflected attention away from the actual reasons for his vacation; namely, his very real dismissal from the company. But we won't go into that.

Instead of Bryan simplifying the sticky situation by announcing a tournament to determine the new champ amongst the few remaining stragglers (or even better, a 205 man pre-show Royal Rumble!), WWE decided, yes, now is the time for the purple brand to draft in an authority figure to sort things out. If there's one way to make the show even less distinct, it's this. Good job, guys.

So next week, some poor sap's mum will straighten their tie and pack their sandwiches ahead of their first day on the job as 205 Live's General Manager. Presumably they failed the interview to be Donald Trump's PR aide. Whoever it is, they've got an uphill task ahead of them, not least as they'll be expected to reinvigorate the show in the wake of scandal.

Keep an eye in the sky for albatrosses gaining on this decemvirate of designees.

Now hold on, bear with us just a moment: there are some very compelling reasons why Vince McMahon's bastard son should be given the 205 Live gig, besides the usual nepotism which dictates such appointments. For one, he has past experience in an administrative role, occupying the Raw GM position for a year (and anonymously too, so humble!), and for two, as the old cruiserweight division's last ever champ, he has the credentials.

Obviously, the one point in the against column is that it'd be inutterably sh*t. It's hard to decide whether that makes it more or less likely.

Probability: 1/10

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
