2016 has been an incredible year for NXT. We all know that. And whilst 2017 will, without a doubt, measure up (ideally, outdoing our expectations), there are some areas that the powers that be need to look at to ensure NXT’s momentum continues. With a year full of big debuts, several match of the year candidates, and shifts as NXT lost and gained major names, the only way forward is up (hopefully, anyway).

As good as NXT in its current state absolutely is, there have been concerns about the brand following roster changes, and the diversity of particular divisions.

NXT generally gets things right, mainly down to their willingness to try new ideas and provide opportunities for everyone who deserves them, so it’s more than likely they will do well in any case.

So, as 2017 begins, let’s have a look at 10 directions NXT should look at for the new year.

This guy pretty much just appeared on an episode of NXT one day and sat himself down next to the incomparable Corey Graves and his accomplice, Tom Phillips. He doesn't often contribute much that substantially improves the viewing, regularly making comments that make it slightly obvious he hasn't been closely following NXT for too long.

Perhaps that's his 'thing' at this early stage of his career as a commentator in NXT. Maybe WWE are considering removing Corey Graves or Tom Phillips completely from NXT. Though it would be a massive mistake, with NXT being so short and with a considerably smaller permanent roster, having three guys talking during matches is just overkill.

Nothing personal against the guy, but considering the calibre of commentators he sits beside, at the moment it just isn't working.
