10 Dumbest Ways WWE Wrestlers Killed Their Push

7. Mr Kennedy

Like William Regal, Mr Kennedy's 2007 push was ended by an ill-timed suspension, his name joining 10 others on a list of wrestlers who were cited for Wellness violations in the wake of the very public Chris Benoit scandal.

Given that a considerable chunk of the roster fell foul of the rules, there was nothing particularly unique about Kennedy's own circumstances - except that he was rumoured to be on the brink of the biggest push of his career, and weeks earlier aggressively denounced steroid use when acting as the company's spokeperson in an interview with The Sun.

Had he not been suspended, the former Money in the Bank holder may well have been cast in the role of Vince McMahon's illegitimate son a few weeks later, potentially leading to a run with one of those elusive world title belts somewhere down the line.

Unfortunately, this spot ultimately went to Hornswoggle instead, and he didn't come close to the main event, instead getting palmed off on his real father Finlay early the following year. Yep, that's all Kennedy's fault.
