With the G1 Climax nearly here, fantasy booking thoughts turn towards 4 January and the Tokyo Dome.

If anyone had any doubts as to whether or not NJPW is the hottest wrestling promotion on the planet, the G1 Special in USA surely answered any and all questions. The Japanese company is on a wave of momentum that hasn't been seen in the professional wrestling world for a long time. Just seven months into 2017 the company has a a handful of Dave Meltzer-approved five star matches to its name, along with two six-star plus bouts to boot.

All this with the much-anticipated G1 Climax to come. The biggest tournament in pro wrestling kicks off on 17 July, with an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match at the Tokyo Dome awaiting the winner. Thoughts will fully turn to the Dome show once the G1 is over - but fantasy bookers worldwide are already be putting together their cards.

What will we see at Wrestle Kingdom 12? New Japan has a whole host of possibilities in front of it. Will Okada still stand tall as IWGP Champion? Will Tanahashi's body hold out? What will Kenny Omega's role be? So many questions, and NJPW has five months to answer them.

Wrestle Kingdom 12 may be just under half a year away, but that won't stop us thinking about what the card look like.
