The steel cage match ended after Daniel Bryan managed to break free from Big Show's clutches and escape the cage. At nine minutes, the match was a rather brisk opener, and there was a reason for that.

Mark Henry participated with serious groin and knee issues, and the brevity was in deference to the fact that he probably shouldn't have been performing that night. Henry had already been working through the groin injury, when his knee went out at the SmackDown tapings less than a week before the pay-per-view.

After the Rumble, Henry would be written out briefly with a kayfabe suspension, but ended up working throughout most of the spring. He took time out in May 2012 to have surgery, and missed about nine months of action after.
