Undertaker's casket match with Big Show was pretty anemic, especially when the two giants had faced off in well-received matches at No Mercy and Cyber Sunday previously. The rubber match at Survivor Series went in Undertaker's favor, but paled greatly to the prior two battles.

The Wrestling Observer reported that Undertaker was working through a list of injuries at the time, primarily his knees and his lower back. This would account for the beats of stalling and elementary brawling, as the match worked around Undertaker's physical limits.

Dave Meltzer also noted that Undertaker was slated to work all the way through WrestleMania, but his output would become much more infrequent over the interim four months. He performed in only a handful of matches leading to the Royal Rumble, as the earliest vestiges of a part-time Undertaker were seen at this point.
