Monsoon was the voice of the first eight WrestleManias, in addition to general WWE programming throughout the eighties and early-nineties. Despite being a renowned super-heavyweight wrestler that headlined Madison Square Garden many times, Monsoon was arguably best known as the authoritative narrator of WWE throughout the years of Hulkamania and Macho Madness.

Monsoon's last appearance on WWE programming took place at WrestleMania 15, where he presided as one of the judges for the Brawl For All contest. Once introduced by Howard Finkel, Monsoon received a rousing ovation from the Philadelphia crowd.

Nineteen years earlier, Monsoon lost what was nominally his retirement match to Ken Patera at the Philadelphia Spectrum. It was fitting that his final public appearance before his October 1999 passing took place in the "City of Brotherly Love", where "Gino" was showered with respect and adoration one last time.
