10 Former WWE Talents Who Thrived in Lucha Underground

9. Big Ryck (F.K.A. Ezekiel Jackson)

Yes, the former Ezekiel Jackson had a stint in Lucha Underground during its initial season. And oddly enough, he was far better than you would have expected him to be.

Personally, I was a major advocate of his early on in his WWE career as he showed signs of potential as a monster heel and later a breakout babyface. While he was largely a limited wrestler, there were ways WWE could have used him to accentuate his strengths. Instead, he had a forgettable reign as Intercontinental champion and was later released from his contract in April 2014.

As Big Ryck in Lucha Underground, however, he was a force to be reckoned with, and was a major focal point of Season 1. Once Dario Cueto's crew turned on him, he emerged as a breakout babyface in the second half of the season and went on an absolute tear. He didn't have many memorable matches in singles competition, but he held his own in entertaining matches versus Johnny Mundo, Prince Puma, and others.

Sadly, Big Ryck wasn't brought back for Season 2, though he was declared "missing" in storyline several weeks ago. Still, that patch he wore over his injured eye looked pretty badass.
