10 Fun Facts About My Trip To The 25th Anniversary Of WWE WrestleMania

Shawn versus 'Taker. The greatest match in WrestleMania history? I was there.

In 2009, my buddy Mike and I set off for Houston, Texas to attend WrestleMania XXV - no not the 25th Anniversary, that would instead take place in 2010, but WWE fancied changing what the term anniversary meant and we all accepted it. On this trip, I would end up meeting three new Welsh friends and we formed probably the least intimidating gang of Brits you've ever seen as we all went to a convention, Axxess, the Hall of Fame, WrestleMania and the post Mania Raw. I've chosen to include a few non-wrestling parts of the trip that stick out in mind to give these articles a little bit of variety. There was one fact that didn't make the top ten, but I'm going to be technical and include it here as a number 11. Here goes. On the bus, on the way to the stadium, a very pretty hispanic girl got on and once she heard our sexy (or repulsive, depending on your opinion) accents, she was chatting away and asked if we were heading to WrestleMania. We nodded our heads and wondered where she was going. She told us she'd bought a $25 ticket in the rafters for the show, and how she'd never watched wrestling but wanted to see what all the fuss was about. To this day, I still wonder what she thought of the absurdity of WrestleMania without having any context of what was going on. In reality, I'm sure she had a few beers, asked the guy next to her what's going on and went home and told her friends "That wrestling s*** is weird, but it's really fun in person". Anyway, now that I've gotten that tidbit out of the way, here are my (real) ten fun facts from my trip to see WrestleMania XXV.
