The Hurricane’s recent surprise return in the 2018 Royal Rumble match brought back some fond memories of the superhero character’s original WWE run from 2001 to 2005.

Although he won the European Championship, doubles gold with both Kane and Rosey, and would later enjoy a 13-month reign as Cruiserweight Champion as Gregory Helms, the highlight of his time with the company was his mini-programme with The Rock.

Intertwined with the build-up to the WrestleMania 19 match between Hollywood heel Rock and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Hurricane shared some hilarious backstage segments with WWE’s king of comedy, and got the opportunity to go one-on-one with ‘The Great One’.

The upset win on RAW, helped by a distraction from Austin, was the biggest of Helms’ career and sparked a huge reaction from the live crowd despite Rock still being largely adored.
