NXT is the perfect combination of high-quality WWE production and the incredible quality of in-ring performances of the independent scene.

Since its inception as a developmental territory in 2012, NXT has given us some of WWE’s biggest main roster stars – from homegrown talent such as Big E and Baron Corbin to luring in some of the top independent stars of the last half-decade like Bobby Roode, Samoa Joe and Adam Cole (Bay-Bay).

Over the course of its relatively short life, NXT has given us so many amazing moments and some of the best of these moments have arrived in big-time title matches.

Championships can be used to elevate a star and create tension and drama in a storyline and NXT has used their titles to great effect in its history. NXT makes us care about the faces and despise the heels, so when they win championships, the crowd reacts accordingly - and usually very loudly.

The following list includes the ten best times a title changed hands in NXT. Whether at TakeOver or on a random episode of NXT, these title changes are all remarkable, for one reason or another, and rank among some of the best moments in the black and yellow brand’s history...

The saying “Anything Can Happen In The WWE” is usually just a marketing slogan, but on the 21st April 2016 in Lowell, Massachusetts, it proved to be a piece of gospel truth.

On a seemingly unassuming night in Massachusetts, Samoa Joe ended the record-breaking 292 day NXT title reign of Finn Bálor. There were no cameras, no broadcast feeds, no commentary tables - and there was certainly no reason to believe that this would be different from any other house show WWE have ever run.

Winning the NXT title was huge for Joe, as it cemented him as the brand's top guy, but it was also huge for the brand itself, as it showed that the product was unpredictable and willing to make unique decisions when it came to its booking.

Joe capturing the NXT title also represented a new era in the product, as Bálor had been champion for nearly 300 days. Joe’s victory opened the up the top tier of NXT to a host of new competitors.

It got the wrestling world talking and ushered in a new era of NXT and it wasn’t even on TV.

Talk about a moment.
