An uplifting message for aspiring wrestlers around the world: hard work really does pay. In 2017, Shinsuke Nakamura was one of the most prolific wrestlers in all of WWE; this year, he won the Royal Rumble.

There's absolutely nothing shocking about this revelation either. Workrate, along with natural talent and bags of effortless charisma, is one of the characteristics with which you immediately associate The King of Strong Style.

But his exemplary attendance record should perhaps give pause to the smattering of fans who last year accused him of phoning it in, claiming that he was falling short of the ridiculously high standards he set himself in NJPW.

In truth, any chasm between his performances in Japan and those he has so far put in Stateside is probably attributable to the fact that he's working so many matches relative to his former life. And, even then, he's managed to put on one or two great ones - with a genuine show-stealer surely to come when he finally meets AJ Styles next month in New Orleans.
