8. Kota Ibushi Defeats Kazuchika Okada In The G1 Tournament

So now that Dominion's in the books, the focus for New Japan fans is on the impending G1 Climax tournament. For those new (heh) to New Japan, it goes like this: 20 of the company's most high profile heavyweight singles wrestlers (including the world champion) are divided into two groups who wrestle in a round robin tournament for points. Whoever has the most points from each group faces each other in a final, and whoever wins gets a shot at the world champion in the Wrestle Kingdom main event. However, should the champion win, he gets to choose who he wrestles in the Tokyo Dome.

Naturally, with Kenny wanting to "change the world" with his wrestling now that he's the champion, he would want to do it with his best friend Kota Ibushi on the grandest stage of them all. Therefore, the two should logically be kept apart in separate blocks in the G1. At the same time, Kota needs some high profile wins in order to set up matches that we'll get to later. A win over Kazuchika Okada would be huge as part of this scenario we have cooking...
