10 Indie Stars CM Punk Should Wrestle Against

He may call himself the Best in the World, but the world just got a whole lot bigger.

Phil Brooks is officially a free man. And whether you love him or hate him, the man formerly known as CM Punk is a still the most talked about wrestler in 2014. Last month Punk officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling and if that turns out to be true, we can only imagine what he plans to do with the rest of his life. However, since retirements rarely last in professional wrestling, we can't help but ponder what more CM Punk could offer professional wrestling. Granted, it's safe to say he may never wrestle for WWE again. His recent tweet about never taking "any s**t from anybody" made it clear that he is still not on good terms with them. And don't ever expect him to return to TNA. In the extremely unlikely event that Punk wanted to go back, there is simply no way TNA could afford him. After all, with all the controversy surrounding him this year, CM Punk could name any figure he wanted. But let's pretend for a second that money wasn't an issue. Let's assume that Punk is only resentful towards WWE, but still remains a fan of pro wrestling. Let's imagine that after a year or so away from the ring, recharging his batteries and enjoying married life, Punk decides that he still wants to wrestle. The US Independent scene has changed a lot since Punk made his name there. Most of the stars Punk came up with are now in WWE or TNA themselves. But the Indies are constantly evolving and producing more phenomenal young wrestlers every year. If Punk were to return to Ring Of Honor or Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, he would find a whole new crop of talent to test himself against. Join us as we look at ten dream opponents we hope to see CM Punk wrestle, if he ever returns to the ring. He may call himself the Best in the World, but the world just got a whole lot bigger.

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
