What: Money In The Bank Briefcase/World Heavyweight Championship, Raw, 7 May 2007

Replaced: Mr. Kennedy

The Ultimate Opportunist was made for this list. This won’t be the last time you see his name appear, but this was one of the early showcases of Edge’s main event career that helped solidify not only the aforementioned nickname, but his status as a top-level player.

Mr. Kennedy was a month removed from winning the Money in The Bank briefcase at WrestleMania 23 and had a big push on the way. He quickly announced plans to cash in at the next year's 'Show of Shows.'

Enter Edge, with some serious luck and timing behind him.

Kennedy suffered a tricep injury with reports expecting up to an eight-month recovery. Management got nervous and decided to take the briefcase from him despite the long-term plan of his 'Mania challenge still being in play.

Back on screen, Edge goaded Kennedy into giving him a shot at the briefcase on Raw, winning easily after a pre-match assault to write the future Mr. Anderson off television and replace him as the man with the case.

Edge, a Raw superstar at the time, made a surprise appearance on SmackDown just four days later, cashing in on The Undertaker who had just endured a steel cage draw with Batista and a post-match beatdown from Mark Henry, winning the first of a record seven World Heavyweight Championships.

In the end, Kennedy only needed a few weeks off in what turned out to be a terribly timed misdiagnosis. The Undertaker needed to drop the belt for injury reasons of his own and Edge just happened to be the right man at the right time.
