10 Matches That Defined Sting’s Career

Sting's legendary career is drawing to a close, relive his best moments.

With Sting making his long-awaited WWE debut at Survivor Series, the rarest thing in wrestling happened: Wrestling fans were legitimately excited for a wrestler's debut. Not since the Monday Night Wars has a wrestler's appearance garnered a reaction like the one Sting got at Survivor Series. When Sting stepped into the ring to face-off against Triple H, history was truly made. Sting was the last of the WCW wrestlers to never appear in a WWE ring. Every other major superstar from Ted Turner's organization had, at one time or another, wrestled for Vince McMahon. Sting was the last of his era, the lone holdover. While a match at Wrestlemania against Triple H seems imminent, one would hope that younger fans do not base their opinion of Sting on his (presumably) sole match in WWE. For years, Sting was the "franchise" of WCW. When John Cena was in developmental, he was being called the next Sting due to their similar styles and builds. If you could build a professional wrestler from scratch, he would look like Sting. As the Stinger's career draws to a close, we thought it would be appropriate to look back on Sting's career. Thanks to the WWE Network, fans can now relive the matches that turned Sting into one of the biggest superstars of the 1990s.
